Christ in Majesty

South portal, Collegiate Church of San Candido

In this very familiar iconography, a crowned Christ rules from a throne, surrounded by the four creatures representing the Evangelists. He blesses the viewer with the index and middle fingers of his right hand pointed up and the thumb held against the other two fingers.
I am estimating the date as between 1200, when the church was destroyed by fire, and 1284, when reconstruction was completed.
